Photospies have managed to catch in their cameras’ lenses the 2017 KIA Picanto of the new generation from the South Korean manufacturer. According to unofficial, preliminary data, the debut of the fresh car will be held in mid-2016, there is also information that the A-Class car will be presented to the public in September at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
It should be said that this model is very “lucky” for updates. Potential customers and loyal fans of the brand are offered modernized versions by the South Korean manufacturers every two years. The previous modification was not very great, though the 2017 restyle should completely influence the car and even the engines as well as the other technical equipment elements will be changed. Most likely, the novelty will not have the three doors version in its lineup.
The Kia Visto, the Kia Picanto predecessor, has been already produced since 1999. In Korea, the Picanto is offered under the Kia Morning name; in Malaysia, it is known as Naza Picanto or Naza Suria; and in Taiwan – the Kia Euro Star.
The overseas versions don’t differ from those offered on the territory of the Russian Federation, except for the car, equipped with the three-cylinder turbo diesel power unit with a capacity of 1.1-liters.
The cars of this class are very popular in Asian cities. Small overall dimensions of the vehicle allow it to move easily on the narrow streets full of the city traffic. The luggage compartment capacity increases several times due to the folding of the rear seats, and a large trunk door provides with the opportunity to place rather heavy cargo into it.
These advantages have been appreciated by the Russian motorists, especially in large cities, where there is always big problem to find a parking place. The power unit efficiency of the car is simply amazing.
In spite of the “democratic” price tag, the Picanto model is richly equipped, including a set of security systems and features for a comfortable ride for passengers and the driver.

The Exterior Design
Despite of the fact that the photographed Picanto 2017 model year was safely hidden under a camouflage film, the automotive experts have managed to observe some features, distinguishing it from the previous version.
Thus, the 2017 Picanto has been changed in its architecture for 90% and will be released in a very unusual look. It is known that the new car will be equipped with completely new headlamps, using LED lighting elements. The car went on tests with a modified more aggressive grille.
The rear of the novelty features the same C-shaped lights, which are now provided with the LEDs. It can also be noticed that the taillights have been integrated in the rear bumper. According to the rumors, the novelty has been based on a new platform, which exactly is still unknown, but it is rather noticeable, that the updated model has a modern and nice-looking exterior.
The 2017 Kia Picanto Interior
For today, there is little to say concerning to the interior decoration of the new car. It is known that the current multimedia system will be replaced by a modern improved one with a large touch screen.
Apparently, the overall dimensions of the car will not be changed, so the free space capacity will remain the same, but based on the reviews of the owners of today’s version, it can be said that the 2017 Kia Picanto will have a comfortable and spacious interior.
It can be seen on the shots, that there has appeared a new three-spoke steering wheel in the interior of the car. A speedometer will be placed on the right side of the dashboard; air vents will change their location, new buttons and knobs will appear on the front console.
It should be informed, that photospies have managed to shoot two prototypes, one of which was mounted with an automatic transmission, while the other – a manual one. It is rather delightful that the Kia manufacturer enables the customers to choose.
There is no official information referring to the powertrains at the moment, but we can assume that the new Picanto will be powered by the 1.0-liter three-cylinder and the naturally aspirated 1.2-liter four-cylinder power units, as well as by the 1.0-liter turbo engine.
