For the first time photospies managed to “catch” the new generation of the crossover 2017 Mazda CX-9. According to unofficial data, the fresh car will be equipped with a 300-strong “turbocharged 4 cylinder” replacing the previous V6 engine and will go on the market in the first half of the next year.
The new generation CX-9 model from Mazda has been spotted by a spy cam. The video footage allows observing a new car in details, due to the complete lack of camouflage. The video has been made during engineering tests in Los Angeles.
Most likely the driver was testing the handling of a new model of company Mazda on sharp turns of winding roads. Unfortunately, as soon as the driver noticed being in the focus of the camera, he abruptly turned around.
For this reason, the video turned out to be rather short, but long enough to distinguish that the new crossover of the Japanese production will be much more luxurious and larger in comparison with its predecessor.
The Exterior Features of the Innovation
The serial prototype of Mazda CX-9 2017 model year, which looks very elegant and impressive, can be observed on the video. It is obvious that the new car uses modern “design language”, which is maintained in a sporting spirit of the new Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 models.
The spotted car shows recognizable front part with eye-catching radiator grille surrounded by swept-back optics. Other noticeable features include: a modern and stylish design of the body; a rising up “shoulder” line; and a sloping roof.
The crossover is also equipped with authentic taillights, a dual exhaust system and a nice spoiler on the tailgate. Generally speaking, the novelty has got more “aggressive” exterior with KODO design body styling, as well as increased in its overall dimensions compared with the current version of the car.
The Technical Changes
On the market there is a huge variety of rumors about the power units, which will be mounted on the 2017 Mazda CX-9 new generation. At the moment the Japanese company has not yet provided some specific information on this issue.
According to the Carscoops publication, the novelty will be equipped with a 2.5-liter Sky Active four-cylinder power unit; the same was used in the new generation Mazda 3 MPS “hot” hatchback. This turbine engine will replace the 277-power V6 one. At the moment, nothing is officially confirmed, but the emergence of the “supercharged” version of the Mazda Speed is also assumed.
The Release Date
The debut of the novelty should take place before 2016, presumably at the end of 2015. It is quite possible that the Japanese company will present the new CX-9 generation at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.
The serial production of the lineup is planned for the beginning of next year. The first sales will, most likely, start at the end of the first quarter of the coming year.
This model went on the market in 2007 with a 3.5-liter “Ford” V6 engine, but after a while a seven-seat crossover has been powered by the atmospheric six-cylinder engine with a capacity of 3.7 liters.
Despite the fact that initially this model was targeted at the markets of North America, shortly after the presentation, the sales geography has been significantly expanded. The Model CX-9 has undergone two restyling in 2010 and in 2013 that made an incredible impression on all fans of this manufacturer.
The Mazda CX-9 has enjoyed great demand due to the impressive dimensions of the body, the large roomy luggage compartment, an incredibly comfortable interior design, the beautiful interior with quality materials and the decent technical equipment.
The price for this crossover has been rather fair, being worth a large sum of money. Will this new generation make the same great impression like the previous versions? We can only wait for the official presentation, hoping that the Japanese company will refresh this model with something new and unusual.
