The photo spies have discovered a new Opel model during some testing in Germany. That was the subcompact 2017 Opel Mokka crossover.
The Opel Mokka crossover is included in the list of the most successful creations of the German brand, this car is gaining popularity being in high demand.
Initially, the company took the concept of such a mini SUV with caution, entrusting the General Motors Company with the main engineering work. But the market has confirmed the viability of this car, and now the company from Ruesselsheim has decided that that was the very moment for the car refreshing, in order not to lose its popularity and competitiveness.
The fans of this manufacturer are expecting the updated Mokka improved not only with new original elements of the exterior and interior, but with an expanded range of powertrains. The restyled model will be presented next year at the Geneva Motor Show.
The photos show the new car in partial camouflage; this enables observing of the new design details, quite a lot of them. Many experts argue that most of these features the developers have borrowed from the Opel Astra K hatchback. The new Opel Corsa shares a platform with the Mokka as well. The protective panel, hiding the front of the novelty, show that a compact crossover, most likely, will get a new impressive bumper.
The new black mesh grille, tracing through the panels, goes well with the head lights. As a rule, all kinds of changes are made simultaneously, but unlike the front of the car, the rear obviously will be redesigned a little bit later.
Judging by the strips at the top of the headlights, the novelty has got the LED daytime running light. These strips will also work as a turn signal.
According to reliable information it became known that everyone who wants to replace the light source of projector headlights with the LEDs are prompted to do it for an additional fee, in the amount of 1000 EUR.
Summarizing, we can say that the restyled Mokka model exterior has now more aggressive, serious and original look.
There is no information regarding to the update of the interior decoration at the moment, but, no doubt, the GM has taken care of the relevant interior innovations, entertainment systems and driver assistance functions.
Of course, the 2017 Opel Mokka won’t do without fresh powertrains. According to unofficial data, the basic construction of the European Mokka will be powered with the following engines:
- the three-cylinder Ecotec petrol power unit with a capacity of 1.0 liter;
- the turbocharged compact one, realizing the maximum power of 113 bhp;
- the turbocharged relatively small sized unit, with a peak power of 89 bhp.
The turbocharged versions will be paired to work with a manual six-speed gearbox.
It should be recalled that at the moment the most compact engine for the Mokka is the 1.4 liter four-cylinder one, and the least powerful is the 1.6 liter producing 115 bhp engine. The 1.7 and 1.4 liters diesel engines will be replaced as they do not meet the predetermined Euro 6 standard.
It is possible that the innovation revealing can occur at Frankfurt, but it is most likely that the 2017 Mokka will debut at the March Geneva Motor Show. Unfortunately, Russia will face the Opel sale ending in the current year, but our neighbors will be lucky as for the updated Mokka production. There is information as for the underway of negotiations about the beginning of car assembly in Belarus, to be exact, in the Minsk region.
Thanks to the new shots and the latest news we can say that the German manufacturer has seriously worked on the auto update. In technical terms, a rich range of the new Opel Mokka engines will enable buyers to find exactly what they need. The new bold and ingenious solutions in the exterior give the car sort of aggressiveness and severity. This model can already be described as a pure perfection, well, let’s wait for further news.
